Ownership Vito, Roberto and Giovanna Somma own-and-operate the restaurant on a daily basis and share a simple passion: Great Food. They were born and raised in Naples, Italy and come from a history of family-run restaurants. Vito graduated from chef's school in Naples, Italy in 1964. He then trained at various restaurants in northern and southern Italy, learning first hand the subtleties of each region's cuisine and in 1967 he left Italy to study other European cuisines. In 1972, all three made the decision to come to America with the desire and dedication to open their own restaurant. Roberto and Giovanna began in Boston and Vito in New York where he worked as the head chef for an upscale Italian restaurant. However, the weather on the East coast was not what they were used to in Italy and no match to the weather here in Southern California. In 1975 they all came to sunny Los Angeles. Once here, they all continued building careers in the restaurant business and five years later, they were ready and eager to open their very own restaurant and Vito Restaurant was born. |

Today, after nearly a quarter of a
century, Vito Restaurant continues to create authentic Italian cuisine
rarely found outside of Italy. By combining their experiences, Vito, Roberto, and Giovanna made a dream come true. Welcome to Vito! |
